Hi, I’m Cheryl. I’m a 50-something Australian woman, married to a French man (Olivier), living in Moscow, Russian Federation.
I’m not a photographer, but I love taking photos of my surroundings, both at home and away.
I’m not a traveller, but I love visiting new places, and returning to ‘old’ ones to explore them more deeply.
I’m a mother, but my daughter is grown up with a family of her own and lives 12 000 kilometres away (or is it me who lives 12 000 kilometres away?).
I’m a wife. One of the best things I ever did was marry Olivier.
I’m an EFL/ESL teacher in Moscow, but there’s more to life than work, isn’t there?
So, why are we here?
To see a little of the world and its people through my eyes, and to read about my life’s adventures (and misadventures!) – past, present, and hopefully future.
I’d like to show you more of Moscow, and Russia, through the eyes of an Australian woman who has lived here for more than 10 years. It’s a wonderful, rich, exciting place to be and I haven’t finished exploring all it has to offer.
I hope to inspire you to go out of your comfort zone, listen to your heart, take the leap of faith, believe in yourself and your life choices. Live for you.
You’ll find a bit of photography, a bit of travel, a bit of EFL, and even a bit of me. Maybe you’ll learn something interesting about a destination on your wish list, maybe you’ll laugh a little, or even cry a little (or a lot, as I tend to do!).
If you’re not a native English speaker, you might even find that reading my blog helps you improve your English language skills a little. Or encourages you to write one of your own.
Life is short. The older I get the more it becomes true.
Live. Love. Be kind.
Some of us take a bit longer than others to learn all that.
My Papa (grandfather) once told me “Be good, do good, and good will come of you”. I hope that you’re finally proud of me, Papa, it took me a while but I think I’m finally getting there.
Let me know if there’s anything you want to read about, I’m sure I have a story up my sleeve just for you.
Enjoy your time here, and feel free to comment or ask questions!
P.S. Oh, and in case you were wondering…..yes, I was.
