Bicycles
Think Amsterdam has a lot of bicycles?

Then come to Moscow!
For the past couple of years, businesses in Moscow have been using bicycles for advertising.
I don’t mean that they ride around the streets on their treadlies shouting out their product list or special offers.
Because they don’t.
They park a decorated bicycle often with their logo, address and other information , on the footpath for all the passers-by to see. Usually, but not always, they put the bike in front of their business or shop.
Like this:

In the beginning, it seemed to be a unique way of advertising. Quirky, even.
But then, it quickly got old. There are bicycles everywhere in Moscow and they’re advertising everything under the sun!

Here are some of them I’ve seen in various locations in Moscow.

And finally, a little one we found in Kanchanaburi, Thailand, advertising a taxi service. So cute!

Maybe this advertising trend has spread to your part of the world, also. Is this a popular form of advertising where you live? Do you like it? Want to see more of it?
Let me know in the comments below, or send me your photos of bicycles used for advertising and I’ll add them to this post.

Actually, I have noticed a lovely yellow bike outside a local Real Estate Office, which they use as advertising. Separate to that another local business has parked an old Vespa at the front, again for advertising. It’s cute and quirky. I’ll have to take snaps when I’m next there.
Interesting! So the trend is spreading 🙂 Yes, please, if you can get a photo of these send them to me at cheryl@borninacar.com and I’ll add them to the post. Thanks Ruth!
This is my first time seeing or hearing about bikes being used for advertising. I like it and it is something different. I could see this catching on in the US in downtown areas.
Hi Angela! Welcome to Born in a Car! Using the bicycles is quite attractive, as long as they’re not in front of every business in the street. They can really add some colour to the neighbourhood. The only problem is that they need to be maintained – they can get broken, fall, dirty quite quickly, depending on where they are. Thank you for visiting and commenting! Please share if you like it! Hope to see you again. 🙂
